We are seeking to recruit a Safety Officer:


The safety Officer is responsible for assisting the Safety Manager and the Safety office in providing the required guidance and direction for the planning, implementation and operation of the organization’s safety management system (SMS). The safety Officer reports directly to the Safety and Security manager.



a) The position requires the ability to cope with changing circumstances and situations with little supervision. The safety Officer acts under the leadership the Safety & Security Manager within the organization.

b) The safety Officer is responsible for providing information and advice to Safety Manager and other operational postholders (managers) and to the Accountable Manager on matters relating to safe operations.

c) Promote safety awareness within the organisation;

d) Ensure that safety management has the same or higher priority level throughout organisation as any other management and operational processes.

e) Manage all aspects of the organisation’s SMS, including:

- Monitoring the effectiveness of SMS;

- Initiating corrective actions when necessary;

- Providing safety reports on SMS performance on periodic basis;

- Providing safety advice to top management and proposing corrective actions on safety related-issues as needed;

- Ensuring that safety-related documentation and records are available and up-to-date.




Tasks for the Safety Officer position


  1. The safety Officer must interact with operational personnel and departmental heads throughout the organization. The Safety Officer should also foster positive relationship with regulatory authorities, agencies and service providers outside the organization. Other contacts will be established at a working level as appropriate.
  2. Assist with the implementation of the Safarilink Safety Management System
  3. Daily review of all hazards and receipt of all safety forms
  4. Assist with all office administrative functions
  5. Control of the processes in the Web based aviation safety management software program (SMSpro) as necessary. 
  6. Monitors compliance with applicable regulatory safety standards.
  7. Monitors trends in reporting system and accident and incident reports.
  8. Follow up/monitor/review all audit findings and implementation of prescribed actions according to the prescribed timelines.
  9. Follow up / monitor / review all hazards and/or safety reports and implementation of corrective action as necessary.
  10. Assist with organising all safety meetings
  11. Updating of all manuals and forms controlled by the safety department
  12. Assist with the development and administering of safety surveys 
  13. All other duties as may be assigned by the Safety manager and or Accountable Manager.




  1. Proven exposure to Safety & Quality Assurance
  2. Must be a Kenyan citizen over 18 years

       c)    SMS Course or equivalent qualification.

       d)   At least three years proven experience in the Aviation environment.

       e)   Technical experience and licensed in the field of Flight Operations/Dispatch ,CPL or Maintenance.

       f)    Minimum High school grade of B- or its equivalent.



a) Broad operational knowledge and experience in the functions of the organization (e.g. training management, aircraft operations, air traffic management, aerodrome operations, and maintenance organization management);

b) Sound knowledge of safety management principles and practices;

c) Good written and verbal communication skills;

d) Well-developed interpersonal skills;

e) Ability to relate to all levels, both inside and outside the organization;

f) Organizational skills;

g) Ability to work unsupervised;

h) Desirable analytical skills;

i) Leadership skills and an assertive approach; 



a) The safety Officer reports directly to the Safety Manager.

b) The safety Officer is authorized to conduct safety audits, surveys and inspections of any aspect of the operation.

c) The safety Officer has the authority to conduct investigations of internal safety events in accordance with the procedures specified in the safety management manual (SMM) of the organization.
